The economic effects of existing and prospective federal policies governing intercity and international freight and passenger transportation enterprises in the economy of the United States are evaluated. The analysis encompassses all modes of transportation, including rail, motor, water, air and intermodal coordinative institutions, and focuses upon the impact of alternative regulatory policies. Volume III contains: an introduction and overview; a regional transportation model; an econometric estimation of cost functions in the transportation industries; hedonic cost functions for the trucking industry; interindustry relations in the surface freight transportation industries; and some models of income determination.
