Measurement by battery powered field computers
Battery powered electronic flow computers have been introduced which are capable of directly replacing pneumatic chart recorders at remote meter sites. The devices have been extensively field tested and offer significant advantages in the areas of improved measurement accuracy, elimination of chart processing steps, and telemetry capability. The devices incorporate many time and labor saving features designed to meet the demand for improved field measurement caused by rising gas prices. Many of the problems that had previously slowed industry acceptance of electronic measurement devices have been resolved. The devices feature optional radio or telephone communication capability to allow the development of future telemetry networks from the meter site directly to the accounting computer.
