Title: Process for the production of hydrogen by the thermal decomposition of water. [FeCl/sub 2/ and CO/sub 2/]

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5178690

Hydrogen is produced by the thermal decomposition of water at temperatures of 1000/sup 0/C or below by making use of iron salts and carbon dioxide, which are circulated in closed circuits in the reaction system. The only raw material to be supplied from an external source is water; all intermediates are circulated in the reaction system. A nuclear reactor may be used as a heat source for the reaction.
