Determination of prior depth of burial using interval transit line

Union Oil Co. of California's transit time-depth plotting (TDP) technique should aid geologists in reconstructing past geologic events in many sedimentary basins when the attempt is hampered by a missing stratigraphic section. Application of the technique in a sample case shows how the TDP can help determine whether the section is missing because of nondeposition or because of uplift and erosion.
