Title: Using economic analysis to achieve cost

The purpose of this paper is to provide assistance in achieving cost-effective energy conservation. The paper identifies the role that economic analysis can play in achieving each of several alternative objectives in energy conservation; reviews briefly five methods of evaluating the economic feasibility of an investment; discusses the suitability of these different methods for evaluating investment in energy conservation; and illustrates in two case examples - one pertaining to solar energy and the other to window design and use - the value of using economic analysis in planning and implementing energy conservation.
