There is a wide range of existing applications for life-cycle costing techniques within the manufacturing industries. Among the applications are: (1) marketing of products, (2) new product development, (3) reduction of energy use in facilities, and (4) guidance in development of energy efficiency standards. Each of these applications has been used successfully by the Trane Company and is described in detail.
