This patent describes apparatus for removing pollutants from a liquid. It comprises a vessel for receiving the liquid to be treated; shapes of ionized polyurethane foam disposed within the vessel for removing pollutants from the liquid to be treated; means for applying a low level electrical current through the shapes and the liquid in the vessel which creates an electrolysis reaction with the liquid that enhances pollutant removal; and means for producing relative motion of the liquid over the ionized polyurethane foam shapes for aiding removal of pollutant from the liquid.
