This patent describes a method of storing electrical energy for a prolonged period of time, it comprises: electrically charging a pair of spaced-apart electrically conductive capacitor plates; positioning a high-critical-temperature superconductor so that upon energization thereof with an electric current a magnetic field is generated between the capacitor plates; and circulating an electric current ins aid high-critical-temperature superconductor to generate a magnetic field between the capacitor plates of a field strength sufficient to prevent substantial loss of charge therefrom.
