Hydrodynamics of a parametrically absorbing laser-produced plasma undergoing spherical expansion

The anomalous absorption of laser radiation in a spherically symmetric solid deuterium target is simulated numerically. The role played by parametric effects in the plasma hydrodynamics is determined. The calculated results agree qualitatively with experiment.
