An oil well swab cup cage structure is described, in which the lower ends of reinforcement wire members lie against an inner annular base ring, and are surrounded by a soft metal intermediate ring which surrounds the lower ends of the wire members. This in turn is surrounded by a hard dimensionally stable outer ring to flow the metal of the inner ring into tighter engagement about the lower ends. A method of making a swab cup cage structure also is included. (5 claims)
