The Federal agencies considered in the analysis reported approximately $269 million in energy-related biomedical and environmental research in FY 1975. The total national funding of biomedical and environmental research in support of energy technology development in FY 1975 may have exceeded $300 million. Comparing the FY 1975 biomedical and environmental research funding with that of FY 1974 shows a 100 per cent increase in expenditure: FY 1975 funding was $269 million compared with $134 million in FY 1974.
