Heat-transfer characteristics of a latent heat thermal energy storage unit with a finned tube

A method of three-dimensional numerical calculation is proposed to obtain the performance of a finned-tube-type latent heat thermal energy storage unit, and the validity of the calculations was checked by comparing the calculated results with experimental ones. In this article calculations have been carried out to examine the effects of various parameters appearing in the governing equations on the heat transfer in the solidification process, and the range of these parameters in which the fin effects are significant is examined.
