Research library goes online: the use of DOBIS/LIBIS at the Sandia Technical Library

In January 1983 the Sandia Technical Library began using the DOBIS/LIBIS online library system for its acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, and retrieval operations. The DOBIS system today is providing real time input to and update of all data files, batch output of paper forms, and online Boolean information retrieval for both librarians and library patrons. Planned future enhancements include remote terminal access for library patrons, electronic S.D.I., and automated inventory of the collection.
