HYDRAULICALLY CONTROLLED VALVE GASKET, PREFERABLY FOR FLUIDS AT HIGH TEMPERATURE CIRCULATING AT HIGH VELOCITY IN THE COOLANT CIRCUITS OF A GAS COOLED REACTOR
The closure member of a flap valve is fitted with a hydraulically controlled gasket ring, in such a way that this ring supporting a preferably conical gasket may be pressed by an axial movement of the ring against the valve seat. This ring is extended on the inside by an annular rib cooperating with a groove in the body of the closure member. The inner extremity of the rib is connected in a tight manner by a diaphragm with the bottom of the said groove, the ring being connected at its two sides with the upper edges of the groove, so that two chambers are formed between these diaphragms. These chambers may be brought alternately into communication with a pressurized control fluid, so as to produce an axial movement of the ring through the change in the relative volumes of the said chambers.
