Title: JOINING B$sup 10$ STAINLESS STEEL PLATES BY THE RESISTANCE FOIL-SEAM WELDING PROCESS

Abstract

A technique for joining boron-10 stainless steel plates by the resistance foil-seam welding process is established. The joint strength produced exceeded the requirements for normal routine handling. The total joint reinforcement thickness did not exceed 0.003 in. and for most welds the thickness increase is 0.002 in. or less. The weld has good appearance and strength adequate to withstand a 180 deg free bend around a 1/2 in. radius, with some reverse bending to a lesser degree. (N.W.R.)
