Exact knowledge of the U/sup 235/ and U/sup 233/ cross section curves and of the radiative capture of neutrons by these nuclei in the resonance region is of great importance for nuclear reactions and reactor calculations. However, because of level interference in this region, the shape of the fission cross section curves differs from those obtained by means of the Breit-Wigner formula; on the other hand, the interference members in the radiative capture equation disappear. For this reason, the fission cross section curves of U/sup 235/ and U/ sup 233/ and the radiative capture of neutrons by U/sup 235/ nuclei was studied in the energy range of 0.025 to 1.5 Mev and by U/sup 233/ nuclei in the range from 0.025 to 3 Mev, making use of V. l. Serdobol'skil's theory of nuclear reactions (Zhur. Eksper. i Teoret. Fiz., 40: 590(1961)). The Doppler effect which distonts the shape of the resonance curves was not taken into account. It was found that in the most unfavorable case the lowering of the cross section at the maximum amounts to l0to 15% which is within the limits of experimental error. The level parameters obtained were much closer to the parameters reported by D. Hughes and R. Schwantz (BNL-325, Suppl. I & II (1957-8)) than to those given by F. Shore and V. Sailor (Phys. Rev., 112: 191
