Mathematical thermochemical relationships were derived. Since the thermodynamic aspects of the reaction appear favorable over a very wide temperature range, an analysis of the probable kinetics of the reaction as a function of temperature will be made. A brief heat transfer analysis will also be made. It should be understood that different reagents might have been used as a source of Al/sup 3+/ and O/sub 2-/. (auth)
