Title: IN-PILE THERMOELECTRIC POWER MEASUREMENTS OF GERMANIUM BOMBARDED BY FAST NEUTRONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4814755

The thermoelectric power and electrical conductivity of germanium bombarded by fast neutrons in the reactor at Swierk were measured simultaneously as functions of the irradiation time in the neighborhood of the intrinsic region of conductivity. On the basis of the experimentally found dependence of electrical conductivity versus irradiation time, and using the theory of thermoelectric power, the dependence of the thermoelectric power versus time of irradiation was calculated and compared with experiment. A good agreement was found lndicating the internal consistency of the theory of thermoelectric power and conductivity. Some evidence was found to support the number of minima in the conduction band of germanium as four. (auth)
