Title: Advanced stimulation technology deployment program, J-W Operating Company, Cotten Valley Sand, Caspiana Field, North Louisiana. Topical report, July 1995-December 1996

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:481294

AST incorporates a process of real collection and real-time analysis/onsite job optimization into the design, implementation, and evaluation of hydraulic fracturing. Several of the critical concepts involved in this process include: (1) real-time data analysis, (2) quality control, (3) stress profiling, and (4) rock mechanics (non-linear rock response). Several new issues have also resulted from the research. These include: (1) the role of fluid rheology, (2) tortuosity, (3) multiple fractures, (4) proppant convection, and (5) bottom-hole-treating-pressure history matching. The main goals of the AST program for J-W were (1) to reinforce GRI technologies in the areas of most interest, (2) to demonstrate the application of real-time fracture treatment analysis, and (3) to document the economic benefits J-W is projected to receive from applying AST to the Caspiana Field.
