An economical process for the precipitation of U and V from carbonate leach solutions prepared from ores is given which permits the leach solutions to be recycled. The process may be used with solutions containing either large amount; of salt or no salt and comprises treating the solutions with a sodium amalgam containing 0.05 to 0.3% sodium, whereby U and V are precipitated as reduced forms. The U and V in turn may be separated from each other by anion exchange. The process is adaptable to continuous operation. (D.L.C.)
