METALLIC FUELS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4805041
The use of metallic fuels in nuclear reactors is discussed. It was found that metallic fuels are being considered for use primarily in fast reactors. The properties of metallic uranium are described, and methods of improving them are discussed. Uranium alloys, plutonium, and thorium were also considered. The use of inert materials in alloys with fissionable materials is discussed. Metallic fuels in the liquid state are described. (M.C.G.)
