THE ACCURACY OF HEAT TRANSFER MEASUREMENTS IN A HIGH PRESSURE SLURRY LOOP
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4803105
The suitability of the high temperature (300 deg C) high pressure (1500 psia) thoria slurry circulating loop for obtaining reasonably accurate heat transfer measurements was considered. It is concluded that measurements of the heat transfer coefficient should be accurate to within plus or minus 25%. Other points of particular importance with respect to the pumping of thorta slurries are also discussed. These are the transition region in non-Newtonian flow, entrance effects, and the settling out of thoria particles. (arth)
