Title: NEW RADIATION MEASURING APPARATUS (in German)

Journal Article · · Telefunken Ztg.
OSTI ID:4801385

A short description is given of instruments marketed since the last review has been published in the TelefunkenZeitung (Vol. 33(1960) No. 127, P.65). The fully transistorized area monitor MS RU 729/1 permits radiation monitoring of buildings and plants by means of scintillation, GM, and neutron detectors. The logarithmic scale extends over 3 decades. Four ranges can be chosen, their full scale readings lying between 10/sup 3/ and 10/sup 6/ ppm. As soon as the activity becomes higher than a predetermined value or lower than a minimum value chosen, a signal is given. The automatic sample changer MS AP 731/1 is preferably used for activation analyses in conjunction with our pulse height analyzer MS Str 531 or the automatic scaler MS Str 610 and a time printer. It is designed for the use of 3 or 6 planchets and can be equipped with a lead shield. It has been made gasproof for windowless measurements with gas flow counters. Fully automatic activity measurements can be made by the automatic scaler MS Str 610 together with the time printer MS ZD 696/1. By means of the preset timer MS SU 697/1 and the utility scaler MS Str 473 semi-automatic preset time measurements can be carried out. The preset time interval is visible at any time and can be reproduced by pushing a button. For measuring soft BETA -rays emitted by nuclides as, e.g., tritium or C/sup 14/ gas analyses counter tubes are highly efficient detectors. Due to the high input sensitivity and high voltage of our automatic scaler MS Str 610 those counter tubes can be con nected without any further electronics. An automatic scaler with gas analyses counter tube and holder MS PZ 783/1 is shown. The distributed amplifier was designed for amplifying pulses in the millimicrosecond range. It is equipped with 6 tubes and attains a voltage gain of 20 db at a band width of 160 mc and an impedance of 100 ohms. Telefunken supplied a neutron time of flight analyser to the nuclear reactor station of Geesthacht. The mainly transistorized equipment analyses time intervals with a resolution of 0.1 microsecond. Every time interval corresponds to a channel of a ferrit core memory. As a whole 4096 channels with a capacity of 65,536 per channel are available. During the measurement the contents of the memory are displayed on an oscilloscope and can afterwards be read out by means of a printer or an xy-recorder. (auth)
