Title: MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER ABOUT A ROTATING DISK

Journal Article · · J. Appl. Mechanics
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1115/1.3636454· OSTI ID:4796143

The effects of an axial magnetic field on the flow and heat transfer about a rotating disk were analyzed. It was found that the presence of the magnetic field significantly decreases the flow velocities; but increases the torque required to maintain steady rotation of the disk. The heat transfer was also decreased by the magnetic field, with greater reductions occurring for low Prandtl number fluids. (auth)
