Title: IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO RADIATION BARRIERS

Abstract

A method is given for preparing a radiation barrier film Which is flexible, has high tensile strength, and can be Molded, dipped, sprayed, or otherwtse fabricated into protective clothing and coatings. In the method, a suspension of a gelling agent, a liquid dispersant, finely divided resin particles, and finely divided particles of a radiation-shielding heavy metal is prepared which has thixotropic properties. The suspension is formed into the shape of a barrier article and then cured. The resin material preferably is polyvinyl chloride, while the liquid dispersant is one or more plasticizers mixed with monomers or prepolyrners. Several examples of the method are given. (D.L.C.)
