EVALUATION OF ZIRCALOYCLAD UNALLOYED URANIUM OUTER TUBES NOS. 125, 126 AND 127

Data obtained in the evaluation of extruded Zircaloyclad U tubes are presented. The tubes were fabricated to demonstrate an improved process for fabricating coextruded, thin-walled unalloyed U outer tubes clad with Nifree Zircaloy-2, and were processed as irradiation candidates. The evaluation data show that two tubes meet all the specifications for irradiation candidates. One of the tubes is satisfactory in all respects except that its overall bow, 5/32 in., is slightly above the 1/8-in. maximum allowed by the specifications applied when these tubes were processed. Tabulated data concerning the tubes are included. (auth)
