IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO TUBULOUS STEAM GENERATORS AND TO STEAM GENERATING INSTALLATIONS COMPRISING WATER-COOLED NUCLEAR REACTORS
This tubulous steam generator for water-cooled reactors comprises a prcssure vessel containing a bank of upright, spaced tubes, the ends of which are shaped to extend laterally to tube plate means disposed at the inner ends of inlet and outlet chambers projecting laterally from the pressure vessel wall into the pressure vessel. A jacket surrounds the tube bank to form, between the tubes, an internal riser space open at the bottom to a liquid space of the vessel and in communication at the top with a steam space of the vessel, while, between the yacket and the wall of the vessel, an external downcomer space is provided. At the lower end of the tube bank support means are arranged to support the tubes at the lateral extensions. At each of the three levels two adjacent sets of spacing strips are arranged with the strips of one set crossing the strips of the other set and with the strips so disposed as to space apart adjacent rows of the upright tubes. These three pairs of sets maintain the spacing of the tubes of the tube bank. (NPO)
