An investigation was conducted to correlate the radioinduced anisotropic growth and preferred orientation as interpreted by the growth index in unrestrained U. Rods were irradiated in NaK capsules to a burnup of 0.208 at.%. Preferred orientation was controlled in fabrication of the rods and was measured after irradiation. Data on growth indices and rate are included along with observations and photographs. (J.R.D.)
