Title: A SLIDE RULE METHOD OF CALCULATING THE END FITTING TEMPERATURES OF FUEL ELEMENTS

An algebraic expression is derived which expresses the end cap temperature of an idealized fuel element in terms of the can parameters and the uniform mid-can temperature. The problem of determining end-cap temperatures is thus reduced to a graphical/slide rule calculation. The effect upon end-cap temperatures of the variation of certain can parameters is discussed.
