Title: THE MECHANISM OF THE RADIATION CHEMICAL DEGRADATION OF AMINO ACIDS. II. DEGRADATION OF *cap alpha/-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION AND NITROGEN ATMOSPHERE AND COMPARISON WITH THE DEGRADATION IN OXYGEN ATMOSPHERE

Abstract

The degradation of alpha -aminobutyric acid was studied in aqueous solution in nitrogen atmosphere for the elucidation of the reaction mechanism. Comparison of the products arising in oxygen and nitrogen atmosphere and their yields made it possible to determine the effect of oxygen on the formation of the degradation products. (P.C.H.)
