Title: DETECTION OF NUCLEAR RADIATION IN STATIC AND FLOWING LIQUID HYDROGEN. Quarterly Report No. 3, July 1, 1961-September 30, 1961. PART I. CRYOGENIC APPARATUS FOR A LIQUID HYDROGEN IONIZATION FLOW CHAMBER. PART II. POSSIBLE USE OF SEMICONDUCTORS AS NUCLEAR RADIATION DETECTORS AT LIQUID HYDROGEN TEMPERATURES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4731155

Work continued on establishing a cryogenic facility for handling liquid H/sub 2/. Also, a study of the possible use of semiconductors as nuclear radiation detectors at liquid H/sub 2/ temperatures was initiated. A conclusion of this study is that Ge is probably less susceptible to radiation damage from Kr/ sup 85/ than Si. (J.R.D.)
