INSTALLATION FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SUPERHEATED STEAM IN A NUCLEAR REACTOR
An installation for the production of superheated steam comprises a nuclear reactor provided with cylindrical fuel elemert cells. Each cell encloses nuclear fuel and has a marginal region in which heat at the temperature of the saturated vapor of a working fluid is produced, while the heat for superheating the vapor is produced in a central region of the cell. Suitably the nuclear fuel is constituted of a cylindrical fuel element so that the marginal region encloses the fuel element, while the inside constitutes the central region. According to an improved embodiment the working fluid itself passes in a first cycle directly through the marginal region, while the same or another fluid passes in a second cycle successively through the central region and through heat transfer means, e.g., a heat exchanger adapted to transfer the heat from the second cycle to the first cycle for superheating the working fluid.
