Influence of the physico-chemical forms of radionuclides and stable trace elements in seawater in relation to uptake by the marine biosphere
From marine radioecology synnposium; Hannburg, F. R. Germany (20 Sep 1971). See CONF-710988-. Atmospheric fallout enters the ocean as a very finely divided aerosol, whereas discharges from reactors and nuclear fuel reprocessing plants may be in the form of primary or secondary cooling waters, treated low level wastes, or accidental releases from ruptured fuel elements. The physico- chemical forms of the artificial radionuclides entering the oceans from these various sources are diverse, and generalizations concerning their behavior and fate in the marine environment are not applicable for all marine regimes. The possible physico-chemical forms thrt may occur in the oceanmore »
