STUDIES ON URANIUM RECOVERY FROM UNIRRADIATED REACTOR FUEL ELEMENTS BY VOLATILE SEPARATION IN INERT FLUIDIZED BEDS
Abstract
Results of studies on the recovery of U by fluoride volattlization from a number of unirradiated reactor fuels are presented. The highly exothermic reactions involved were carried out with good control through the use of inert fluidized beds. The fuels investigated were U-Zr alloy, uranium oxide, uranium carbide, and uranium metal. (auth)
