For the proposed method foils of fissionable material were covered with so-called collector foils'' (aluminum or polyethylene). The calibration of three foils followed on the basis of a known fission rate of U/sup 235/ and by absolute determination of the BETA activity during use of the known regularity of the number of BETA particles per fission depending on the waiting time. A comparison of the flux value measured with U/sup 238/ or Th/sup 232/ with the values from other threshold value detectors (sulfur and phosphorus) resulted in disagreement within the limits of error.
