Title: APPLICATION OF RADIOCHEMISTRY TECHNIQUES IN FOOD PROCESSING RESEARCH. PART II. RADIOISOTOPIC TRACER TECHNIQUES IN EVALUATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF INDUSTRY PRACTICES FOR REMOVAL OF PESTICIDE RESIDUES FROM FOODS. Progress Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4704209

Problems met in determining the extent to which commercial processing practices remove pesticide residues from foods are discussed, and the use of tracer techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of various practices is described. Results of some tests on the effectiveness of processing procedures are given, and the methods used in the evaluations are described. Neutron activation analysis is noted to be an extremely promising tool for these investigations since no radioactive pesticides have to be applied to the foods. (D.C.W.)
