CORROSION OF WELL POINTS AND WELL PIPING IN DOMESTIC WATER ADJACENT TO THE SAVANNAH RIVER PLANT
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4694083
An investigation was made to determine the cause of excessive corrosion of construction materials of wells supplying domestic water to several families in communities bordering the Atomic Energy Commission's Savannah River Plant in South Carolina. The excessive corrosion was a result of the natural corrosiveness of soft water with high carbon dioxide and oxygen contents. Nothing was observed that would indicate in any way that the activities of the Savannah River Plant have contributed the failures. (auth)
