INFLUENCE OF THE COOLING SYSTEM ON THE POWER LIMITS OF PRESSURIZED-LIQUID REACTORS (in German)
The technical limits for the optimum design of a reactor are defined in diagrams by the maximum heat velocity of the fuel elements and by the indices of the cooling system (degree of cooling efficiency, reboil margin, and reactor index). The so-called marginal capacity'' of a reactor is determined by the power limits of a reactor given by the maximum thermal neutron flux in the fuel, the maximum fuel and surface temperature of the fuel elements, and by the consumption of the primary cooling system. When reactor plants are designed, and adaptation of the technical and nuclear physical calculation methods to one another is possible by means of the established diagrams, once the nuclear physical optimum design is determined by the infinite multiplication constant as a function of the volume ratio of moderator to fuel. The established indices of the cooling system can also be reciprocally used for the evaluation of pressure fluid reactor types. (auth)
