A noncorroding homogeneous reactor using actinide metal oxide sols as fuels is patented. The reactor core is a metal container enclosing the sol, and a means for circulating the sol through it is provided. Since actinide metal oxide sols are comparatively noncorrosive, the reactor and its piping may be made of materials such as ordinary steel or galvanized iron, which would be corroded by fuels such as acid uranyl sulfate and abraded by slurries of oxidic actinide compounds. The use of sols provides inherent self-control, since they can expand, forcing excess volume into an expansion chamber. (M.P.G.)
