Title: PROCESSING OF MINERAL ORES (in Spanish)

Abstract

Aspects of uranium-ore reduction from the preparation of the ores to the production of the concentrate are discussed. Causes and reasons are given rather than details. Preliminary concentration, roasting in connection with the elimination of impurities, and the formation of soluble compounds are considered along with stockage, trituration, sampling, and grinding. Acid or alkaline lixiviation is dealt with in detail as being the key stage in the chemical processing. In the solid-liquid separation great importance is attached to the use and mode of operation of tlocculants. In the recovery of uranium from the lixiviation solutions the direct precipitation method and the use of ion-exchange resins and organic solvents are analyzed. Finally, the precipitation of the concentrate from the ion-exchange eluates and re-extraction solutions is dealt with on the basis of the impurities present and the specifications required of the concentrate: a description follows of the final procedures involved in preparing the analyzed material and getting it ready for delivery. The bibliography has 158 references to the end of 1960. (auth)
