The flow patterns within a pump mix mixer-settler extractor are studied photographically and visually. Dye is injected into the pump mixer and followed through the various portions of the equipment. These results are analyzed to give both a quantitative and qualitative measure of the flow within a single stage. The purpose of this study is to produce a computer simulation of the mixer-settler extractor which will model the startup and steady state data obtained by Casto on this equipment.
