Title: Motion of Charged Particles in Magnetic Field with Helicoidal Symmetty; DVIZHENIE OTDEL'NYKH ZARYAZHENNYKH CHASTITS V MAGNITNOM POLE S VINTOVOI SIMMETRIEI

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4625794

A drift theory and numerical equation integration were used in an investigation of charged particle motion in a right helical magnetic field. High velocity drift and grooved plasma instability were analyzed. It is shown that drift magnitude is determined by the injection point in relation to the separatrix and field parameters. An optimum injection point from the point of view of drift and particle confinement in was found near the separatrix maximum, at Larmor radii comparable to the separatrix radius. The injection angle for efficient drift is very narrow. A stable drift is produced by particle injection outside the separatrix with a field center rising at an arbitary azimuth. (R.V.J.)
