Determination of (γ,n) and (γ,2n) cross sections in 70Ge, 72Ge, 74Ge, and 76Ge.
Abstract
Cross section for the (γ,n) and (γ,2n) reactions of 70Ge, 72Ge, 74Ge, and 76Ge, have been measured from threshold to 40 MeV.

Absolute measurement of the sup 65 Cu(n,2n) sup 64 Cu, sup 64 Zn (n,p) sup 64 Cu and sup 56 Fe(n,p) sup 56 Mn cross sections at 14. 6 MeV
The {sup 65}Cu(n,2n){sup 64}Cu and {sup 64}Zn(n,p){sup 64}Cu cross sections are measured relative to the {sup 56}Fe(n,p){sup 56}Mn cross section by the activation method. The {sup 56}Fe(n,p){sup 56}Mn cross section is then measured relative to an absolutely calibrated neutron flux monitor. Neutrons are produced by a 150 kV Cockroft-Walton accelerator using the {sup 3}H(d,n){sup 4}He reaction. Measurements are conducted under low-scatter conditions at 0{degree} with respect to the incident deuteron beam direction. Measurement of the induced {sup 64}Cu activity is conducted by positron absorption and annihilation in copper. Annihilation photons are counted in two 7.6 cm {times} 7.6 cm NaI(Tl)more » -

Growth and characterization of isotopically enriched 70Ge and 74GGe single crystals
Isotopically enriched 70GGe and 74GGe single crystals were successfully gown by a newly developed vertical Bridgman method. The system allows us to reliably grow high purity Ge single crystals of approximately 1 cm 3G volume. To our knowledge, we have grown the first 70GGe single crystal. The electrically active chemical impurity concentration for both crystals was found to be ~2 x cm -3 which is two order of magnitude better that of 74Ge crystals previously grown by two different groups. Isotopic enrichment of the 70Ge and the 74Ge crystals is 96.3% and 96.8%, respectively. The residual chemical impurities present inmore »
