Bulk acoustic wave technique as a real-time corrosion probe in low-conductivity solution: In-situ corrosion behavior of copper in acetic acid
- Hunan Univ., ChangSha (China). Dept. of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
The possibility of using the bulk acoustic wave (BAW) technique to study metal corrosion in low-conductivity organic solvents was demonstrated in relation to copper corrosion in acetic acid (CH{sub 3}COOH). Effects of oxygen, cupric ions, mineral acids, and temperature were considered. The BAW sensor was found advantageous over conventional electrochemical methods in monitoring corrosion behavior in a low-conductivity system.
