Title: Crystal structures and magnetic properties of novel [Ln{sup III}Cu{sup II}{sub 4}] (Ln = Gd, Dy, Ho) pentanuclear complexes. Topology and ferromagnetic interaction in the Ln{sup III}-Cu{sup II} pair

Pentanuclear complexes, (Dy[Cu(apox)]{sub 2}[Cu(apox)(H{sub 2}O)]{sub 2})[ClO{sub 4}]{sub 3}{center_dot}7H{sub 2}O (1), (Ho[Cu(apox)][Cu(apox)(H{sub 2}O)]{sub 3})[PF{sub 6}]{sub 3}{center_dot}4.5H{sub 2}O (2), (Gd[Cu(apox)]{sub 2}[Cu(apox)(H{sub 2}O)]{sub 2})[ClO{sub 4}]{sub 3}{center_dot}7H{sub 2}O (3), (Gd[Cu(apox)][Cu(apox)(H{sub 2}O)]{sub 3})[PF{sub 6}]{sub 3}{center_dot}4.5H{sub 2}O (4) were prepared and studied by X-ray crystallography. Structures are reported for the complexes. Temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility of the complexes was determined from 1.8 to 300 K.
