Recent development in nuclear prestressed concrete pressure vessels in France
From 2nd international congress for pressure vessel and piping technology; San Antonio, Texas, USA (1 Oct 1973) See CONF731003-P1. Experience in France in the use of prestressed concrete pressure vessels (PCPV's) for gas- cooled reactors, such as the Marcoule built in 1956-57, is reviewed by considering the special characteristics of PCPV's, resistance of PCPV's to accidents, and official regulations related to such pressure vessels. Research results are presented on: materials testing to determine the mechanical properties of prestressed concrete and special high-strength concrete, requirements for insulating concretes used in the hot liner concept of pressure vessel construction, and corrosion testing of concretes for pressure vessels. FinaHy special designed features of Rebecca-C, a boiling water reactor with a PCPV, are itemized. (LCL)
