Incipient-boiling superheats for sodium: effects of history, gas content, and approach to boiling
- ed.
From 4th international seminar on heat and mass transfer in liquid metals; Trojir, Yugoslavia (6 Sep 1971). See CONFExperimental measurements of incipient-boiling superheats with sodium have been conducted with EBR-II primary sodium and no inent cover gas. These tests have shown that a large incipient superheat can result in a boiling surface losing its history; if the pressure- temperature history is applied for at least 20 min prior to the test run, the measured superheats show agreement with the pressure--temperature-history model if a ratio for the receding to advancing radii of curvature of 0.34 is employed; and the incipient-boiling superheat has been shown to be independent of the method of approach to boiling.
