Title: Purely axial flow in a countercurrent gas centrifuge

Journal Article · · Atomkernenergie, v. 22, no. 1, pp. 41-45
OSTI ID:4405609

The flow in the rotating cylinder of a gas centrifuge is governed by the continuity equation, the Navier-Stokes equations, the conservation of energy and the equation of state of a perfect gas. These equations are linearized with respect to the Rossby number which is the ratio of a typical flow velocity to the peripheral velocity of the cylinder. Exact solutions of the linearized equations are given which represent purely axial flow in a countercurrent gas centrifuge. The solutions constitute a two-parametric manifold, the two parameters being the product rate and --the recirculating stream. (GE)
