Title: Algorithm and program for analysis of gamma spectra by the least-squares method (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Tr., Inst. Eksp. Meteorol., no. 1, pp. 122-129

The least-squares method ensures a lower error in spectral analysis than any other method. This method, in the approach to the problem of analysis of gamma radiation spectra determined with a scintillation spectrometer, requires the introduction of a weighting factor for counting in the channele. Contents of natural radioactive elements in the soil and ores and errors of these values according to the spectrum measured with a 64-channel analyzer were calculated in 3 sec. The correctness of the calculations and operation of the spectrometer were monitored by the ratio of the actual and calculated deviations of the counts in the channels. (tr-auth)
