OUTPUT SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO IN PULSE SYSTEMS WITH AGC AND SATURATION

This memorandum is intended to extend and clarify the work in SCTM255- 57(14) which dealt with post-detection signal-to-noise ratio in pulse systems; however, it is largely complete in itself. The original memorandum treated only the case of a steady signal in Gaussian noise in linear and square-law detection where no saturation occurred. Here, the case of a Gaussian signal in Gaussian noise is compared to the case just described. In addition, the effects of AGC and saturation are considered for those cases where the input consists of a Gaussian signal in Gaussian noise and of a steady signal in CW interference. (A few computational errors thnt arose in SCTM255-57(14) are corrected.) (auth)
